  1. "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places." – Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms.
  2. The Roches (Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy Roche) were a vocal group of three songwriting Irish-American sisters from Park Ridge, New Jersey, United States. They were known for their "unusual" and "rich" harmonies, quirky lyrics, and casually comedic stage performances. The Roches were active as performers and recording artists from the mids through , at Missing: Broken Places.

  4. Another clever album, their wordplay and banter took a back seat on the straightforward `So’ and the piano-led, Streisand-esque `Christlike’. TERRE ROCHE’s only solo CD (with Maggie on board on three tracks) came with THE SOUND OF A TREE FALLING () `La Vie C’est La Vie’ and `Broken Places’. Yes, it was time for a ROCHES.

  8. Don't read this review if you do not already love The Roches. They've done some stuff that has been less than great but to my mind this is their classic album. If only one cut, "Broken Places", were on the CD, it would be reason enough for me to get it/5(27).
